I love dream home giveaways and the DIY Network is now offering its latest version: Blog Cabin 2011. The cabin, actually a stunning circa-1905 farmhouse, is located along the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia. In grand do-it-yourself style, the home was completely renovated and newly furnished for a grand-prize package worth almost $800,000!
The sweepstakes began August 15 and ends September 30, 2011. Enter twice daily – once at DIYNetwork.com and once at HGTVRemodels.com – for your chance to win. Good luck and here are some pictures of the gorgeous and historic home.
The old farmhouse received a complete facelift with the addition of Southern plantation-style landscape design elements, a circular drive and an elegant, Arts-and-Crafts-style front entrance.
A coastal-chic design scheme brightens the dining area, which features a rear wall of windows. Plantation-style furnishings, tumbled sea glass and DIY artwork add warmth and personality.
A light-filled kitchen comes to life with solid maple cabinetry, inspired by coastal cottage design. Beaded, reverse-raised-panel doors, oil-rubbed bronze hardware and one very functional chalkboard wall complete the look.
In the family room, beadboard wainscoting, capped with flexible chair rail, echoes the design of the kitchen cabinetry. The wall treatment sections off the living area, furnished with a slipcovered sectional that offers cozy lounging.
The stunning backyard features a staircase from the back deck leading to a cobblestone-paved patio and casual seating areas that take full advantage of bay views.
