Whether understated and cozy or grand and stately, the bed is the most important feature of any bedroom. But an expensive headboard isn’t the only way to dress up this focal point. Here are some unique and unexpected ways to pay honor to your retreat at day’s end.

Chalkboard and white paint and a stencil take this headboard from basic to wow! Leave off the girl’s stenciled silhouette and the headboard works equally well for a quirky and fun adult’s room. Who need’s a notepad?

Wall decals make an easy and budget-friendly headboard while adding whimsy and style to the room.

Weathered doors propped behind the bed create the perfect headboard for a rustic and shabby chic room. I love the contrast provided by the crystal chandelier.
