The Move Magicians Makes the News!

It’s been an exciting month for The Move Magicians! I was recently honored with guest spots on both Good Morning Texas and DFW Closeup to discuss moving tips and all the company has to offer.

As you may recall, I created The Move Magicians to complement Barbara Gilbert Interiors after witnessing countless moves and the need for customized relocation assistance.  Time and time again, I’ve watched clients become overwhelmed by the staggering amount of work to be done before and after a move, and I knew I could help. That’s why I started The Move Magicians – to meet the needs of busy clients and alleviate the stress of moving.

Now the word is out and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the reaction the company is getting from clients and industry leaders alike!

The Move Magicians, a full-service moving concierge company, was featured on Good Morning Texas on June 11 and CW 33 DFW Closeup on June 17. I had a lot of fun doing both interviews and am so excited to know the company is meeting a real need.

Top 10 Ways to Turn Off a Homebuyer

Summer is one of the busiest seasons for home sales. But in today’s economy, if your home is on the market, it’s essential to make it as appealing as possible to ensure a sale. assembled a coast-to-coast SWAT team to help sellers move their properties: Chad Goldwasser of Goldwasser Real Estate in Austin, Texas; Terry Cannon, a buyer’s agent and broker with Oregon Exclusive Buyers Realty in Salem, Ore.; and Julie Dana, the New York-based “home stylist” and co-author of “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Staging Your Home to Sell.” Together, they identified 10 buyer turnoffs that sellers should avoid at all costs. Here’s the list.

1. Dirt. Hands down, the panel agrees: Nothing turns off a buyer quicker than a dirty house. “The No. 1 biggest mistake is not getting the home in the best possible condition. That’s huge,” says Goldwasser. Sellers should go the extra mile, from steam-cleaning tile and grout to replacing carpets.

2. Odors. Buyers, it’s said, buy with their noses. Make sure your home smells fresh and inviting. Pet smells and kitchen odors are a deal breaker.

Staging Your Home to Sell

If you’re trying to sell your home, home-staging can make all the difference. Staging is about highlighting your home’s strengths, downplaying its weaknesses and appealing to the largest pool of buyers. Beyond cleaning, staging creates a mood, making your home brighter, warmer and more welcoming. These ten low-cost tips will help you turn you house into a “show home” and, most importantly, sell it quickly and at the highest value possible.

1) At a minimum, your lawn should be mowed, leaves raked and flower beds well maintained. Add some colorful plants and shrubs and place them strategically in your planter beds. Curb appeal is crucial.

2) Group your furniture and create obvious traffic flow spaces. There’s a common belief that rooms feel larger if all the furniture is pushed against the walls, but this isn’t the case. Float your furniture away from walls and reposition sofas and chairs into cozy conversational groups. This will actually open up the room, make the space more user-friendly and seem larger.
